The iconic Beverly Hills Hotel Spa in Los Angeles has reopened its doors after seven months of extensive refurbishment and redesign.

Christopher Cowdray, CEO of the Dorchester Collection – luxury operating company of the Beverly Hills’ Hotel, appointed internationally renowned design firm Champalimaud Design to oversee the thoughtful restoration.

The vision for the 2,600sq ft spa’s redesign was to evoke a sense of serenity and calmness while maintaining the hotel’s playful attitude and chic sensibility.

Notable changes include the relocation of the reception allowing for a private check-in and check out to enable a more dignified spa experience, new retail vitrines on display and the addition of a relaxation room.

The retreat has also been updated with a nail suite, including two pedicure chairs and a manicure area featuring natural light from the citrus garden.

Champalimaud Design has woven a light and soothing theme of nature through the spa, choosing to highlight the hotel’s signature banana leaves by layering them into the design of the wallcoverings throughout the reception, nail treatment room and relaxation spaces.

This fresh theme is continued in five spacious treatment rooms which have been transformed with a new soothing colour-scheme and custom-designed wall coverings inspired by California’s native flora and fauna.

These are completed with bespoke Oakworks’ treatment tables featuring in-built heat features and LED lights to gently illuminate rooms.

Across the reception, lounge area and nail treatment room, the design firm has used a bold deep blue colour inspired by Lapis Lazuli to contrast against the hotel's signature palette of soft, muted pastels.

A subtle cream and gold brick pattern wallpaper is also recurrent when moving between the spaces, as well as a striking carpet produced by a collaboration between Champalimaud Design and TRC Lab.

“The fresh and stylishly elegant new Spa at The Beverly Hills Hotel has brought a new youthful personality to the overall hotel experience,” said Alexandra Champalimaud, founder and president of Champalimaud Design.

“It’s been a joy to develop this calming new gem for the hotel and its loyal clientele.”

The refresh has also seen all changing rooms equipped with steam showers and other spa amenities to help guests unwind and decompress before and after treatments.

In addition, hotel guests are offered access to a pool, Technogym-equipped fitness facility and Jacuzzi throughout their stay.

The spa offers a menu that embraces advanced technology, natural luxurious ingredients and internationally-inspired wellness rituals to provide a variety of treatments.

Over 20 product lines are featured throughout the menu, including Natura Bisse, NuFace, Foreo, Valmont, UMA, Skin Authority and Knesko Skin.
