Plans afoot for AU$2m aerial climbing park in Sydney, Australia
Plans are in the works for the creation of Australia’s first aerial climbing park giving guests connected to safety harnesses the chance to complete an adventure course set out across a series of three-storey towers.
The AU$2m (US$1.8m, €1.4m, £1.1m) attraction has been put forward by family entertainment facility Go Bananas, based in the St Mary’s suburb of western Sydney, with the 2,000sq m (21,527sq ft) facility taking users up to two-and-a-half hours to complete.
The owners of Go Bananas have put a development application forward to Penrith Council and hope to start work in January, with a completion date pencilled in for the Q2 of 2015.
If plans are approved, guests to the attraction will get the chance to participate in activities ranging from free falling to tightrope walking as they bid to complete the solid steel course.
The concept has been delivered with the owners working in accordance with Touch Cloud Global, which serves as a consultant and developer to activate skyscapes for leisure and tourism ventures.
Those behind the scheme believe the creation of the new facility will serve as a natural progression given the success of their Go Bananas offering, which would sit next door to the ariel course.
The attraction, which was originally conceptualised four years ago, would also seek to help participants to overcome their fears and realign perceptions of what they can achieve. Its designers have made special modifications to ensure that the course can be completed by disabled guests too.
The area surrounding the proposed visitor attraction is well-known for its thrill seeking attractions, with the Penrith already home to a Wet ‘n’ Wild water park, as well as attractions providing jet pack flying, cable waterskiing, indoor skydiving and whitewater canoeing.
