£2.8m Cockington Court overhaul complete

Work has been completed on a £2.8m scheme to transform Devon's Cockington Court as a historic attraction and 'innovation workspace' for creative businesses in the Torquay area.
The regeneration of the Grade II*-listed building has been designed by Torquay-based Kay Elliott, with the existing property benefiting from structural repair and modernisation.
Three new buildings have also been constructed to the rear of Cockington Court and feature art spaces, galleries, craft studios and community facilities around a central public space.
More than £1.1m of funding came from the European Regional Development Fund South West Competitiveness and Employment Programme. Torbay Council and CABE also contributed.
Kay Elliott director Chris Woodfield said: "Cockington Court is a major attraction in Torquay. It wanted to sustain and grow visitor numbers, ensure its profitability and become self-sufficient in its future upkeep.
"We look set to achieve all of these things while at the same time creating a vibrant, cultural hub that can support creative industry and the arts community."
