Plymouth Life Centre launch pushed back
The opening of Plymouth's new £46.5m Life Centre leisure complex has been pushed back to February 2012, after the project incurred delays due to inclement weather in late 2010.
A spokesperson for Plymouth City Council confirmed that main building works on the new Archial-designed facility remain on track to be completed in November. The construction process was extended by five weeks earlier this year due to issues caused by the weather, along with the need for South West Water to move a pipe at the site.
"There have been no significant delays to the work carried out by Balfour Beatty over what you would expect in a project of this scale," said the spokesperson. "After Christmas the operation will be handed over to SLM - trading as Everyone Active - who will be managing the Plymouth Life Centre on behalf of the council."
