THFC scheme receives mayoral backing
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club's (THFC) plans for the £450m redevelopment of its White Hart Lane stadium in North London has received the green light from London mayor Boris Johnson.
A new 56,250-seat venue is at the heart of the Northumberland Development Project proposals, although the Premier League club is still in contention to take over the running of the Olympic Stadium following the 2012 Games. Haringey Council had already approved planning permission for the KSS-designed scheme, which will also include a new heritage square, a hotel and improved public spaces.
THFC's plans for the Northumberland Development Project will now be referred to the secretary of state for consideration. Haringey Council leader Claire Kober said: "We're thrilled that the Mayor of London has thrown his weight behind Tottenham Hotspur's plans."
