£12m complex proposed for Bilston stadium
Plans for a £12m hotel complex adjacent to Bilston Town Football Club have been submitted to Wolverhampton City Council.
The club, which submitted the plans, hopes that the development will revitalise the 113-year-old site and give it a new lease of life following several vandalism attacks. The complex, to be called Stadium Hotel, will feature 60 bedrooms, a gym, a restaurant and a juice bar, as well as retail units. If approved, the stadium's stands will also be refurbished and extended to higher league standards.
Nick Chapman of Tweedale Architects, said: "The club has set out standards higher than its current league status with a view to winning promotions in the forthcoming years. "The football facilities will encourage the development of a modern approach to football from the grass roots up, inspiring new generations of the football side of the future."
Subject to planning approval, Chapman expects work to begin on the site in April 2009.
