Horwarth HTL and WATG roll out hotel guidelines

The Asia-Pacific based consultancy Horwarth HTL has formed a partnership with US destination design firm WATG and sustainable implementation group the International Tourism Partnership (ITP) to draft a set of sustainable hotel development guidelines.
All hotel feasibility studies produced by Horwath will include the new guidelines.
The studies will also reference and include a document called Going Green, Minimum Standards Towards a Sustainable Hotel, prepared by the ITP.
It is intended that the report section will increase awareness and interest of stakeholders for prioritising and undertaking development that minimises environmental impact.
The guidelines provide recommendations that encourage developers to create and operate a sustainable hotel through a variety of different measures in the planning stages of development.
They include site evaluation, architectural and interior design, energy and water conservation and waste management. There are also other sections on procurement and guest participation. Details: watg.com
