Hard Rock's guitar shaped hotel launches J-Lo light show
The recently opened, Klai Juba Wald-designed Guitar Hotel at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has a new string to itself following the launch of a new J-Lo-themed music and light show on its LED façade.
The Hollywood hotel opened in October 2019 as part of a $1.5b (€1.4b, £1.2b) expansion of the Seminole resort and is claimed – probably not unreasonable – to be the world’s first to be shaped like a guitar.
Rising 450ft (137m) into the air, it houses 638 rooms spread across 34 floors, features floor-to-ceiling windows throughout that create a gleaming glass frontage and six illuminated strings running up its body that shoot beams of light 20,000ft (6,000m) into the sky.
The hotel's daily light show makes use of 16,800 LED fixtures built into all sides of the hotel by Float4 and DCL Communications.
Stretching for a 30,000ft (9,100m) and creating a 10,000-pixel-wide canvas on the building, they are choreographed to different songs in changing patterns, colour and intensities.
A new show launched this month features a mashup of six hits by Jennifer Lopez, with the artist having performed live as part of the new show's launch on 13 February. It will now be incorporated into future scheduling of the hotel's light show.
