Aberdeen pool scheme moves forward
International construction consultancy, Davis Langdon, and FaulknerBrowns Architects have been appointed by Aberdeen City Council (ACC) to progress plans for the city's proposed 50m swimming pool.
Davis Langdon has been selected as project manager, while FaulknerBrowns will head up the design team for the new facility, which is set to provide a regional competition standard facility to help attract visitors to the city. Neil Fletcher, chair of ACC's 50m Pool Project Board, said: "The design and project consultants we have now appointed were picked from an extremely high quality field of bidders, and we look forward to a speedy progression towards our Stage 2 funding bid to sportscotland."
FaulknerBrowns is currently involved with the construction of the new Dubai Sports Complex in the Middle East, which is due for completion early next year in time to host the 2010 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) and the 2013 FINA World Championships. Meanwhile, the Glasgow and Edinburgh offices of Davis Langdon are currently working on a number of schemes, including the 2014 Commonwealth Games Village in Glasgow.
