Clacton hotel plans revealed
A seafront hotel in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, is set to undergo a £5.5m redevelopment if proposals put forward by developers Primero Management are given the go-ahead by Tendring District Council (TDC).
Plans for the revamp of the town's Comfort Inn, which include a 16-lane bowling alley and a rooftop restaurant and bar, have been welcomed by both TDC and its regeneration company, InTend, and it is hoped a planning application will be submitted next month. The scheme also includes increasing the number of rooms at the hotel from 53 to 61, as well as the creation of conferencing and function rooms, a family entertainment suite and a basement car park.
Architect Russ Drage, speaking on behalf of Primero Management, said: "We believe this building will be the most significant new addition to the Clacton seafront in many years. The rooftop restaurant and bar will be truly spectacular. "Primero is hoping to attract a major restaurant operator to Clacton as part of this major project which has been designed to offer something for people of all ages."
If the plans are approved, it is anticipated that work would be able to get underway in May, with a scheduled completion date of March 2010.
